He said Robert always thought of other people before himself and urged the teenager's friends to "hold Robert in your hearts".He said: "The loss is so powerful... it's like having a nightmare, in fact it is a nightmare - we live it every day. But there's no waking up from it, feeling relief and you never revert back to normal."He said he would miss his son's "smile, humour and laughter" and fought back tears as he told stories from Robert's childhood. "Rob loved the part of Marcus Belby. He loved being part of the international iconic story of Harry Potter. He was always talking about the people he worked with." He went on: "If there's a piece of Rob in you, then take that with you for the rest of your life and keep it for Rob. If you saw things in Rob that embraced your heart, then embrace them."Earlier in the day a private funeral was held at Eltham crematorium attended by family and close friends. As most of you know JKR has written an 800 word short story about Harry's world during his father's time. It will be released in combination with the works of others in August. To hear an excerpt, go here. You'll have to watch an ad first.
Rowling, who has earned a £560 million fortune from the seven Potter stories which sold more than 375 million books worldwide, sets her story three years before Harry is born and features the characters Sirius Black and James Potter, Harry’s father. They get in a scrape with irate policemen before making their escape via broomsticks, drumsticks and a little bit of magic.
“I had great fun writing the card and I’m absolutely delighted that it has raised £25,000 for two such worthy causes,” Rowling said.
The author, whose books have also been turned into a series of record-breaking films, has previously stated that if she did write another Potter tale, it would not be for another ten years.

Money raised from the sale at Waterstone’s in Piccadilly, Central London, will go to English PEN, which promotes understanding through literature, and Dyslexia Action.

Release Date announced for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
A release date for the first part of
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been announced (Source 1). The chosen date is November 19, 2010. There is currently no date for the release of the second part of the movie, though many sources have stated DH pII will be released in summer 2011 (Source 2).
If you missed the March story announcing that
Deathly Hallows would be released in two parts (Source 3), here is part of it:
It has been an honor for our studio to be entrusted with bringing J.K. Rowling’s extraordinary book series to the screen, and we have always felt a great responsibility to be true to her vision. In concluding the film franchise, we recognized that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is packed with vital plot points that complete the story arcs of all of its beloved characters. That said, we feel that the best way to do the book, and its many fans, justice is to expand the screen adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and release the film in two parts. We could not imagine the final chapter of the film franchise being in better hands than those of David Yates.Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is set to be released November 21, 2008, so you'll have something to watch while you wait for the end of the series. The Harry Potter series began filming in winter of 2000, so fans will have been eagerly waiting for the entire first decade of this millenium for this film series to come to a conclusion.

April's Newsletter from Christopher Paolini
Well, I'm finally in the home stretch with Brisingr. It took an
enormous amount of effort to finish the first draft, but it is
finished now, and I couldn't be more relieved. At the moment, I'm busy
chewing my way through the editing, which has been a surprisingly
enjoyable
experience this time around. The hardest part is having to excise
material that I spent days, and sometimes weeks, laboring over.
However, as most any
writer will tell you, just because you spent ten days slaving over a
certain scene is no reason to keep it in the final manuscript. The only
question
that matters is whether the scene contributes to the book as a whole.
If not, then it must go.
I have to say, I love the cover of the new book. I think that John Jude
Palencar really outdid himself with this one. It feels right for the
book too;
Brisingr is the longest and most intense entry in the series so far,
and his art reflects that. Someday, I'd like to see him paint the
Ra'zac as
well. The Ra'zac and Angela the Herbalist. . . . Together. Yup. That
would be interesting.Read the rest of the newsletter in our forums

From CBBC Newsround:
Film bosses reckon there's way too much going on in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to be able to squeeze it all into one movie.
Producer David Heyman said: "Unlike every other book, you cannot remove elements of this book."
The news will probably please fans who've been disappointed when key scenes from the books have been left out of other Potter films.
Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the teenage wizard, says splitting the film in two is the only sensible option.
"There have been subplots in the other books that have made them easier to cut - although those cuts were still to the horror of some fans," he told American newspaper, the Los Angeles Times. "The seventh book doesn't really have any subplots. It's one driving, pounding story from the word go."
But some fans are thought to be angry at the idea as they think film bosses are just trying to make as much cash out of the Potter movies while they still can.
Part one of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is expected to be released in November 2010, with the second and final film hitting cinema screens in the summer of 2011.
But the next movie out is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which is currently being filmed.
It would be great if this were so. I hope it is. WB doesn't have
anything about it on their site. I wish they would have split some of
the other Potter movies, too. As far as those who think WB is angling
for more money, I say that's rubbish. It's general knowledge that they
have always been worried about length of the movies. Even though fans
have insisted they wouldn't mind all the movies being 3 hours + WB has
had concerns that people would be put off by long movies.

Even though my hope is this story is true, in ten years, I think JKR will be over the pain of leaving Harry.
Maybe the story of Harry Potter isn't finished after all.
Author
JK Rowling, the so-called Mrs Harry Potter, gave a glimmer of hope to
the millions of fans of the phenomenally successful books last night.
Speaking
to a rapturous audience in UCD, the author opened the possibility for
more of the child wizard's adventures in coming years.
With the seventh book in the series, the story of Harry was presumed finished.
But last night Ms Rowling said she would "never say never" to another in the series.
However,
for a series that was her life for 17 years, it would be another decade
before she could ever revisit the adventures of the wizard, she said.
And judging by the reaction of 600 students, children and adult fans of the book last night, it is just as well.
"I do feel that the Harry story is now done," she said to a disappointed sigh which verged on tears.
Encyclopaedia
In addition, Ms Rowling said an encyclopaedia of the series would also be written, with funds going to charity.
The
author was in Dublin to receive the James Joyce Award from UCD's
literary and historical society for her services to the written word.
"Ms
Rowling's work has fostered an appreciation of literature in millions
of readers worldwide, and her imagination and creativity have
captivated an entire generation," said a statement from the debating
society.
"She receives the award for her tremendous contribution
to the field of literature, both in terms of the quality of her work
and the impact that it has made over the last decade."
In
receiving the award Ms Rowling joined in the prestigious company of UN
weapons inspector Hans Blix, actor Ralph Fiennes and author Bill
Bryson.
Arriving to rapturous standing applause, Ms Rowling read an extract from 'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows'.
It
was an ideal audience for the author, who has sold some 400 million
books; many of those present would have been young, avid readers when
the first of the series came out.
Screamed
When the
applause finally ended and the author took her seat, a screamed "I love
you" from the crowd illustrated that it was a friendly bunch.
That and the numerous children dressed as wizards dotted through the crowd.
Following the reading, Ms Rowling took 10 questions from the hundreds which had been submitted in advance.
And
it was here that everyone in attendance got an insight into the
worldwide publishing phenomenon which has gripped children and adults
in recent years.
She admitted that she had the thought of Harry
dying in the early books but had changed her mind. However, when the
final book was finished it was "like saying goodbye to an old
boyfriend".
And who was the character she would most like to meet?
"Dumbledore -- to apologise for outing him," she replied to applause.
To
finish off the evening, Ms Rowling signed books for the adoring masses,
who left with hope in their hearts of more Harry Potter in the future.
